New Chelsea number one Thibaut Courtois believes that his side are capable of landing the Premier League and Champions League crowns this season, according to the BBC.
The 22-year-old Belgian has been in fine form since finally appearing for his parent club after joining in 2011, and he believes the current squad are capable of great things.
The Blues are four points clear at the top of the league before fixtures this weekend while also sitting first in their Champions League group – and he feels that they have the ability to win both.
The keeper said: “We have the team to win the Champions League. So hopefully we could win both, but we will see.
“Obviously we have a very strong team, not only 11 players but a very strong bench.
“We have the quality to reach the Champions League and to win it but there’s other strong teams – Bayern, Barcelona, Madrid – so you need a little bit of luck not to play against them before the final.
“The Premier League would be really nice to win. I’d rather have both, but if I had to chose, maybe the Premier League now and another year the Champions League.”
While Chelsea have only kept three clean sheets in the league so far this season, they have only conceded the second fewest goals behind in form Southampton.
Courtois has been earning rave reviews for his part in conceding so little with many tipping him to go on and emulate Cech’s success in holding the spot for years.
