Following Arsene Wenger’s admission that their title bid could well be over already, Arsenal fans have started to vent their frustrations at the beleaguered boss with Paul Clement favourite to take over at the club, according to the Daily
In the wake of their 2-1 defeat to Swansea having led the game, Arsenal fans have reacted furiously to their team’s current performances and their manager’s reaction.
#WengerOut started to trend over Twitter as fans took to the social network to make their feelings known.
The Frenchman was singled out by the Gunners’ faithful for their short comings in the transfer market – despite £30m Alexis Sanchez immediately becoming a fan favourite a lack of defensive reinforcements has proved incredibly costly already at this early stage.
Arsenal are currently 12 points behind leaders Chelsea and while they look likely to climb out of the Champions League group stages, their recent performances have left much to be desired.
It now appears patience is running thin with fans, who did see Wenger end his nine year trophy wait last season by winning the FA Cup – but that success has not brought on the new dawn that was hailed.
It is likely that when Wenger eventually steps down he will have a hand in selecting his successor.
And despite many names such as Jurgen Klopp being touted for the position, Real Madrid number two Paul Clement has emerged as a surprise favourite for the job.
Clement has coached at the likes of Chelsea, Fulham and Blackburn and has been Carlo Ancelotti’s number two at both Paris Saint Germain and now Madrid.
However the Englishman has never held a managerial position at a club.
