Roma striker Mattia Destro has welcomed speculation claiming that he the subject of interest from Arsenal, insisting they are a reflection of his good form this season, Goal.com
The 23-year-old has previously revealed that he was considering his future in the Italian capital, but has shown impressive scoring form in Serie A so far this season despite finding himself in and out of the starting XI. His current record stands at four goals in five starts, all of which came in home wins.
Arsenal are rumoured to be monitoring Destro, but signing a striker is not believed to be at the top of manager Arsene Wenger’s list of priorities, as he looks to have more pressing matters to address in defence and in the holding midfield role.
But the Italy international was delighted though flattered to hear of the link with a move to North London. He said: “Arsenal for me? The rumours are good, I’m happy for them. This is the proof that I’m doing my work well. There are so many things that I can improve on. I must never stop and continue to learn new things.
“The coach (Rudi Garcia) encourages me a lot, he is teaching me some things, and I try to show my skills on the pitch, as well as the confidence he has in me.”
