England manager Roy Hodgson says he dropped Glen Johnson over poor form

England manager Roy Hodgson admitted Glen Johnson has been dropped from the national team due to poor form, reports ESPN.

“I don’t always speak to players I don’t select in the squad. I prefer Calum Chambers and Nathaniel Clyne. It is a choice issue, quite simply. I am not writing Glen Johnson off. I know he has not been at his best form and he would be the first to admit this. I am making a choice,” he said.

Johnson has been in and out of the Liverpool team in the last 18 months, and his form has been very poor, with the Reds conceding 50 goals in the Premier League last season.

It appears his time with the Three Lions could be up too. Clyne, 23, and Chambers, 19, are long-term options at right-back for England, and Hodgson will be hoping they have come of age by the time Euro 2016 comes around.
