Fabian Delph won’t sign a new contract with Aston Villa this season

According to Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph will be on his way out of Villa Park, with reports suggesting the England international won’t extend his deal past this summer.

“The club has made a strong offer to Fabian to keep him at Villa beyond this season and our clear desire would be that he remains at the club. He and our medical team are working hard to expedite his return to action, ideally before the end of this year, so he can continue to contribute over the remainder of the season,” said a club’s spokesman.

Delph has been out of action with a shoulder injury, but this season has been a landmark campaign as he finally became an England international. His contract is up in the summer, and he looks set to leave the struggling club in pursuit for a top-half entity, but Villa will still be hoping he can play a prominent role when he returns from injury.
