Gareth Bale turned down Barcelona and Manchester United to complete Real Madrid move

According to ESPN, Gareth Bale was presented with lucrative offers from Barcelona and Manchester United prior to his world record transfer to Real Madrid.

“I know that at one time Barcelona were also interested in him, there were two agents who called me, but he said he did not want to go there. He always wanted to play for Madrid. He could have gone to United and other clubs, but he wanted to Madrid,” said Gareth Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett.

Bale’s decision to join Real Madrid was quickly vindicated, with the Welsh international scoring the winning goal in Los Blancos’ Copa Del Rey victory against Barcelona, and putting Real ahead in the Champions League triumph against Atletico Madrid.

This season, he’s scored five goals and made three assists, and has oddly been linked with a move away from Spain, but has no intention to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.
