Hull City 0-1 Southampton: Wanyama wonder goal earns Saints’ third consecutive league win

Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama scored a long range effort early in the first-half, as the visitors won their seventh league game in their last eight outings, reports BBC Sport.

Southampton took the lead in the third minute of the game, with Victor Wanyama scoring from distance, after Hull City goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic made a mess of his clearance.

The Tigers didn’t come too close to equalising against the visitors, registering just one shot on target in the 90 minutes. Southampton weren’t at their fluid best, but managed to hold on to their slim lead for the entirety of the match.

Ronald Koeman’s side have won their last two games by a 1-0 scoreline, but their impressive defensive record has meant they can see out any game when they go ahead. Southampton finish the day in second place, while Hull remain in the bottom-half of the table.
