Lallana insists Rodgers will get Liverpool ticking again

New arrival Adam Lallana believes that ‘clever’ manager Brendan Rodgers is the right man to get Liverpool performing again and that it is only a matter of time until he does so, the Daily Mail has reported.

Lallana was a £25m acquisition from Southampton over the summer but had to wait to make his debut for the Reds after picking up an injury during preseason.

Having made his debut back in early September Lallana has been part of a Liverpool side that have failed to live up to the hype of last season’s magnificent performances – they currently lie seventh in the table and a huge 12 points behind leaders Chelsea.

But the England playmaker insists that while they have been nowhere near their best this season, Liverpool will get stronger and a good performance is not far away, also hailing his new boss as a “very clever, clever” man.

He said: “We know we’ve not been playing to our maximum but we are still in transition. We feel that if we keep working hard, a really good performance is around the corner.

“Working for Brendan Rodgers has been brilliant. He works very much with the players, and his man-management skills are good. He even speaks Spanish to a lot of the lads who can’t speak English.

“He’s tactically clever and sees things.

“He’s always watching games, looking to tweak things different. He’s a very, very clever manager.”

Liverpool take on leaders Chelsea at Anfield looking to make up for their poor start to the season – and exact revenge that saw a now infamous Steven Gerrard slip against the Blues severely dent their title challenge last season.
