Leicester City’s Matthew Upson could return to action before the New Year

According to Leicester City’s official website, defender Matthew Upson could return from injury next month.

The 35-year-old, who signed from Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion this summer, needed surgery on a foot injury which has kept him out of action so far, but he is set to return to competitive action in the coming weeks.

“He is doing very well, very well and hopefully he will play some part in a competitive game in the next month. That means he may be in contention for the first team before Christmas, which would be fantastic for us. He has a wealth of experience and know-how. I am looking forward to having him available,” said manager Nigel Pearson.

Leicester have been in desperate need of shoring up the backline again, with the Foxes having slipped into the relegation zone after three consecutive defeats – conceding 11 goals from their previous six.
