Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers hoping under-fire goalkeeper Simon Mignolet isn’t suffering from a lack of confidence

After making a costly error that saw Liverpool go behind to Ludogorets in last night’s 2-2 draw, manager Brendan Rodgers is hoping the Belgian isn’t suffering mentally, reports ESPN.

“The pitch was difficult for players and the goalkeepers, and it was especially bobbly around the 18-yard box. Hopefully it is not an issue with his confidence. It was a disappointment for the team because we wanted a solid start and to go behind so early was very frustrating. Thankfully it didn’t cost us,” Rodgers said.

Mignolet has been heavily criticised for a number of below-par performances for Liverpool this season, and his fledgling form will certainly be a big worry for the Reds manager during what has so far been a poor start to the new campaign for the club.
