Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes today’s Southampton victory proves their title credentials

After seeing his side comfortably see past Southampton 3-0 at St Mary’s, Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is confident of catching league leaders Chelsea now his side are hitting form, reports BBC Sport.

“The thing we cannot complain about in the squad is the spirit, the personality, the character and the ambition to continue winning. We have to play 25 games more. It is a lot of points and nobody knows what will happen in the future. In football in one week you can change your position. Chelsea are playing very well and we will see what will happen,” he said.

Manchester City have picked up 10 points from their last four Premier League games, which has seen them climb to second in the table, and given Chelsea dropped points on the weekend to Sunderland, the Sky Blues gained some ground on the league leaders.
