Manchester City’s Aleksandar Kolarov out for a month with calf injury

According to BBC Sport, Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov will be out of action for around a month after picking up a calf injury on the weekend.

The 28-year-old left-back suffered the injury while warming up ahead of the Sky Blues’ weekend meeting against Manchester United on Sunday.

He’s been a mainstay in the side in the last 18 months, with his brilliant distribution having led to him creating a host of chances for the City forwards. Last season, the Serbian international created 36 chances in the Premier League, making 7 assists.

Gael Clichy will deputise in his absence, most notably when manager Manuel Pellegrini wants a more defensive-minded fullback in the side, and the Frenchman recently impressed in the backline against United.
