Manchester United’s Chris Smalling says top-four is minimum requirement this season

After climbing to fourth place earning a 2-1 win away win against Arsenal, Manchester United defender Chris Smalling believes that the minimum target they should be aiming for this season, reports Sky Sports.

Given the manager and the players we have got, we should be playing better than we are, with more points. We have a good base now with an away win and now we can go back to Old Trafford and build on that. We have two home games coming up, and we need six points, then we can have a look at where we are in the table. (Top-four) is always a minimum for this club,” he said.

Manchester United have had an inconsistent start to the Premier League season under new manager Louis Van Gaal, but have finally picked up a league win away from home, while beating an elite side. There’s plenty of the season still to go, but United now being fourth in the table will give them great confidence.
