Manchester United’s Daley Blind succumbs to injury on international duty

According to ESPN, Manchester United midfielder Daley Blind has picked up a potential knee injury while on international duty for the Netherlands national team.

The 24-year-old, who signed from Eredivisie side Ajax in the summer, has been ever present in the Manchester United team this season. He has helped to protect the backline under new manager Louis Van Gaal, but his injury could now mean he misses their clash against Arsenal next weekend.

United have had a real injury crisis this season, with a host of defenders and midfielders being out of action – Jonny Evans, Phil Jones, Marcus Rojo and Michael Carrick are all injured, while Chris Smalling is suspended.

Due to a lack of options, Blind was forced to play in the defence alongside young Paddy McNair in United’s last league game against Crystal Palace, where the pair impressively kept a clean sheet.
