“I picked up a few knocks during the game and my left hamstring, which I hurt at the start of the season, I could feel a little bit. We had a discussion at half-time over whether to bring me off then but it was a game I didn’t want to come off in so I played the extra 15 minutes and then (England manager) Roy (Hodgson) decided to sub me off. We will just have to see (about facing Arsenal on the weekend) but I am hoping to be fit,” he said.
The young defender, signed from Southampton this summer, has had a difficult start to his United career, with injury and poor fitness seeing him miss out on the early league fixtures. But manager Louis Van Gaal has thrown him into the action, and Shaw has somewhat impressed of late.
The Red Devils will be hoping his hamstring injury is nothing too serious, given how many players they have on the treatment table at present.
