Under-fire striker Robin Van Persie admitted he was relieved to have finally got on the scoresheet in Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Hull City this weekend, reports Sky
The Dutch international, 31, was recently criticised by manager Louis Van Gaal after his lacklustre performance in the 2-1 away win against Arsenal, but proved his worth with a fierce left-footed effort into the top corner against Hull, and his relief after netting his first goal in a month was clear to see.
“If you score a goal like that it gives you confidence and the team, and if I am really honest I needed that. You just have to keep working and those goals, or any goals, will come,” he said.
