Mourinho to target Everton’s Coleman in the summer

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is set to swoop for Everton right back Seamus Coleman this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

It is believed it would take a bid of around £20m for the Blues to prize the Irishman away from Goodison Park.

Coleman has established himself as one of the most highly rated right backs in the country in recent years since signing for just £60,000 from Sligo Rovers back in 2009.

Mourinho is a confirmed admirer of the fullback, who current manager Roberto Martinez described as one half of the best fullback pairing in the league – referring to him and left back Leighton Baines.

Everton are said to be aware of Chelsea’s interests and have been preparing themselves to have to potentially replace one of their stars.

Barcelona’s Martin Montoya has been earmarked as a replacement with the Toffees enquiring after the 23-year-old.

They could also look domestically for a replacement and have identified Rochdale’s Rhys Bennett, also 23, as another target should they regrettably lose Coleman.
