Newcastle manager Alan Pardew calls on Ayoze Perez to work on physical attributes

As reported by ITV Football, Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has praised Ayoze Perez’s form with the Magpies this season, but feels he needs to work on becoming more of a physical threat against defenders.

The 21-year-old striker joined Newcastle this summer from Spanish side Tenerife for £1.5M, and has scored three goals in his last four Premier League games.

Perez is already being talked up for his impressive movement in attack and his ruthless finishing, but his manager believes he now needs to become more physical to survival in the division.

“He has great technical ability that top players have. Now we have to transfer that into a physical specimen that can handle this division without taking away his speed and agility. There is a balance there, but he has improved massively. He also has clever, technical feet to get him out of tricky situations, (but) needs to improve his strength, both his speed and power,” said Alan Pardew.
