After playing against the likes of Manchester City & Liverpool in recent weeks, Newcastle’s Mehdi Abeid revealed his excitement at finally breaking through into the first-team, reports BBC
“It’s not finished, I have to learn every day. I want to play against the big players and judge myself. The last three years I’ve been patient and I have to stay that way. It’s unreal for me to play against big sides like Liverpool and Manchester City in one week. It’s fantastic getting more experience. I’m learning against big players and now I have to keep my head down. I want to prove I can do a job for the team and the coach,” he said.
The 22-year-old has been trusted into the first-team following a lack of options in central midfield, but has taken his chance with both hands, shining in Newcastle’s Capital One Cup win against holders Manchester City, and in the Magpies’ victory over Liverpool in the Premier League.
