“Patrick Van Aanholt has dislocated shoulder”, says Sunderland manager Gus Poyet

Sunderland defender Patrick Van Aanholt is out of action for the Black Cats after dislocating his shoulder in his side’s 3-1 win against Crystal Palace, reports BBC Sport.

“We wish Patrick well. We will wait to see how he is on Wednesday when we return for training. He has dislocated (his shoulder). Now it is about finding out how bad the damage is,” said manager Gus Poyet.

Van Aanholt injured himself after a tackle on Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha in the first-half of their meeting yesterday. He was replace by new-boy Anthony Reveillere, who could now deputise for him until he’s back.

The 24-year-old joined Sunderland from Chelsea this summer, and has taken little time to impress in the defence under Gus Poyet. He’s been a mainstay ever since he arrived, but will now be missed while he’s recovering.
