Premier League elite on red alert following Joao Moutinho’s transfer request at AS Monaco

According to the Express, AS Monaco midfielder Joao Moutinho has handed in a transfer request with the club, which has caught the attentions of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United.

The Portuguese international, 28, is said to be disillusioned of the club’s ambition following the departures of Radamel Falcao to Manchester United (loan) and James Rodriguez to Real Madrid (£65M). Monaco are currently 8th in Ligue 1, 11 points off league leaders Marseilles.

As a result, Moutinho wants a move, and a host of Premier League sides would be keen on his services. He’s made 13 league appearances, scoring twice. Typically combative as well as creative, the 28-year-old has been close to a move to England in the past, and with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United all looking to bolster their holding midfield options, Moutinho could well be on his way to the Premier League in January.
