Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has suffered a major blow with the news that midfielder Sandro will be unavailable until the New Year due to a knee injury, BBC
The summer signing from Redknapp’s former club Tottenham has struggled to attain full fitness throughout his three-month stint at Loftus Road, and as a result has been in and out of the starting XI. He was forced off after 61 minutes of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Newcastle United and a scan shows that Sandro has ligament damage.
“Sandro took a bad knock to his right knee, and has suffered damage to his medial ligaments,’ said club doctor Peter Florida. “It is totally unrelated to his previous ACL injury. Unfortunately, he will now be unavailable for selection until after Christmas.”
The Brazilian has so far made eight Premier League appearances since arriving from Spurs, with whom he spent four years. Captain Joey Barton and the experienced Karl Henry are likely to provide cover during his absence.
