According to the Metro,
It is thought that the Reds offered around £3m more for the Chile international after Barcelona decided to cash in but Sanchez was desperate to join forces with Arsene Wenger at the Emirates.
Barcelona complied with his wishes and he completed a £32m move in the summer – and has since bagged 11 goals in 17 appearances for the Gunners and established himself as a firm fan favourite.
His final season at Barcelona saw him score 21 times in 54 games, including 19 league strikes.
Liverpool have been left to rue what might have been, after selling star Luis Suarez to Barcelona for £75m, with their two new strikers Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert yet to find a league goal for the club.
When asked about the forward Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers said: “He’s a fantastic player and would have suited us.
“His profile would have been great but it was not to be and we move on.
“It wasn’t due to a lack of ambition by the club, it was about where the player and his family wanted to choose to live.”
Sanchez has already scored in every competition he has played in for Arsenal and looks to have carried on from his hugely impressive World Cup with Chile.
He has long been his country’s talisman, making 75 appearances and scoring 24 goals.
