Schalke 04 have denied rumours that they are lining up bids for Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski and Chelsea star Andre Schurrle, Talksport
The two Germany internationals have found themselves out of favour at their clubs, with Podolski having failed to start a single Premier League yet this season. As a result, the former Cologne player has spoken of his discontent at being out of the team, but Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has insisted that he is not for sale.
Signed in the summer of 2012, Podolski has rarely played the full 90 minutes of a Premier League match for Arsenal and finds himself below Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck, Theo Walcott and Yaya Sanogo in the pecking order, although he has a respectable scoring record for the Gunners.
Schurrle has never established himself as a regular in the Chelsea first-team, often rotated with Willian to play as one of the three to play behind the lone striker. However, reports have surfaced in recent weeks that he could be heading back to the Bundesliga with Jose Mourinho said to be willing to let him go.
Roberto Di Matteo’s side have been prominently linked with the duo as well as Bayern Munich playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri, but their sporting director Horst Heldt has denied the speculation, saying: “We’re not considering Andre Schurrle at all. And the same goes for Xherdan Shaqiri and Lukas Podolski.”
