Southampton manager Ronald Koeman rues mistake-ridden performance in Manchester City defeat

After seeing his side lose 3-0 at home to a 10-man Manchester City side, Southampton manager Ronald Koeman was disappointed for his side not showing their true quality, reports BBC Sport.

“We had the possibility to show our qualities and it was not good enough. The difference was the quality. If you are not at your best and make some mistakes then they will punish you. (But) there is no time to be disappointed. From tomorrow we have to prepare for Arsenal. Wednesday is a new opportunity,” said the Saints boss.

Southampton were second best against the defending champions, and created few chances in the 90 minutes to ever threaten a win against City. Despite having a man extra, the South Coast outfit spent extended periods without the ball and having to defend deep.

The result meant Manchester City overtake Southampton in the table, with the Saints picking up one point from a possible six.
