Southampton have the opportunity to make it eight wins out of nine Premier League matches when they take on out-of-form Leicester City on Saturday.
A trip to Hull City looked a very difficult game on paper, but a superb piece of opportunism from Victor Wanyama in the second minute was enough to see the Saints earn all three points to stay only four points behind leaders Chelsea.
Once again, the most impressive aspect of their success at the KC Stadium was the defence, as Ronald Koeman’s men stubbornly held on throughout and limited a good side to very few clear opportunities.
The form that Leicester are in could hardly contrast more with that of the home side. An unfortunate own goal saw them lose their last match against West Bromwich Albion, with other results condemning them to a place in the bottom three.
Striker Leonardo Ulloa was dropped for that game, but overall the side appears to be lacking the vibrancy and creativity that saw them take points off some of the big boys early in the season.
The hosts have no new injury concerns, so Koeman could go with an unchanged team. Jay Rodriguez and James Ward-Prowse remain absent.
Leicester second choice goalkeeper Ben Hamer is out until after the international break, while Matthew Upson is also injured.
