Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has hinted he could leave to play for a “big club” at the end of the season after a move failed to materialise to the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal this summer, Sky
Despite huge upheaval that saw as many as seven star players leave St Mary’s and eight new faces arrive, the Frenchman was the only one the club would not allow to be sold – much to the disappointment of the player.
He was linked with a number of teams with Tottenham appearing to be his most likely destination to join up with former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino.
But new manager Ronald Koeman saw the player as the one man he could not afford to let go and has been rewarded for his resilience.
Schneiderlin has been hugely impressive again this season and his performances have helped Southampton to second in the table and become one of the most in form teams in the country.
However, he has hinted that if the Saints fail to keep up their bid for European football next season he will not hesitate to angle for a move to a “big club”.
He said: “A career passes quickly and I want to play for a big club.
“We’ll see at the end of the season what will happen if we are still in the Champions League places and I will make the choice. I will see with my club.”
