Spurs chairman Levy wants man credited with Southampton signings

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has kick started an overhaul at the club and at the top of his wish list is Southampton’s Head of Recruitment Paul Mitchell, according to the Daily Mail.

Levy is said to be furious with the attitude of the club’s squad during their dismal 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Stoke on Saturday.

The Spurs chairman has been the target of frustration and criticism of fans and pundits after the start of the season brought yet another new manager under his reign and a lacklustre playing staff that has seen them left behind by Europe’s elite.

In a bid to get the club back on track he has made it known to those at the club that he is planning major personnel changes in the coming weeks.

He has already moved Stefan Freund from a coaching role to club ambassador after Pochettino revealed he would prefer to work with his own coaches.

But top of his major shake-up is Paul Mitchell – the man credited with the hugely successful recruitment at Southampton in recent years.

This season has done Mitchell’s reputation no harm, with all eight of their summer signings proving their worth and some as they sit second in the league.

He is the main target of Daniel Levy who also wants a massive remodelling of the club’s scouting network.

Mitchell acts as the eyes and ears of Southampton and travels the globe in search of the next best move for the club, and Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino worked closely with him last season whilst at the club.

Pochettino has made it known to his chairman that he trusts Mitchell’s judgment when it comes to players.

It remains to be seen if he can be lured away from the South Coast with Southampton no doubt desperate to keep him.
