Three Man City injury concerns for Swansea clash

Manchester City have concerns over the fitness of captain Vincent Kompany as well as Eliaquim Mangala and David Silva ahead of Saturday’s clash with Swansea City, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Kompany picked up a calf injury during the 2-1 defeat to CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on November 5, and as a result has missed the most recent Premier League game at Queens Park Rangers along with both of Belgium’s internationals. While City are hopeful that he can take to the field against Swansea, it appears more likely that the former Anderlecht star will return against Bayern Munich on November 25.

His absence leaves Manuel Pellegrini to rely upon only Martin Demichelis and Mangala to play in the centre of his defence, but Mangala is struggling at present with a knock which forced him to miss France’s friendly with Albania. Despite that, Les Bleus are hopeful that he can play a part in their game against Sweden on Tuesday.

Silva has been out since October with a knee injury after being taken off early in the Capital One Cup loss to Newcastle United. It seems unlikely that he will play against the Swans too, with a return at the end of the month for the trip to Southampton probable.
