Tottenham will be hoping to build on two positive away results by getting their home form back on track with a win over Stoke City on Sunday.
More seriously concerns would have been raised about Spurs had they not produced the late show which earned them all three points at Aston Villa. The impact of Harry Kane – and his winning goal – has begun a clamour for the England U21 international to make his first Premier League start of the season here. Getting on the score-sheet in the Europa League has further enhanced his chances.
A win for Stoke would be enough to see them leapfrog their opponents, whose results after European games do offer the visitors hope, although they have not won on any of their previous six Premier League trips to White Hart Lane.
Last time out, they were mystified at their failure to beat West Ham United in a game they dominated for long spells, but will have been encouraged at the improved attacking display, with Victor Moses particularly impressive.
Should Kane be given the nod, either Emmanuel Adebayor or Roberto Soldado will make way. Kyle Walker and Nabil Bentaleb are both out for Tottenham.
Stoke should have forward Marko Arnautovic and utility player Marc Muniesa back after injury, while Phil Bardsley and Peter Crouch are both back from suspension.
