Tottenham Winger Andros Townsend believes that man of the moment Harry Kane is now impossible to drop despite the rotation of manager Mauricio Pochettino, the Daily
Kane has been the man in form for Spurs, bagging ten goals in 14 appearances while first choice strikers Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado have just three goals between them so far.
Pochettino has so far ignored calls from frustrated fans to hand the academy product a first league start but with his last gasp winner at Aston Villa last weekend, and his goal in the Europa League on Thursday, it will be a hugely controversial call to leave him out once again.
And Townsend, who teed Kane up for his goal in Greece in midweek, believes his manager will find it incredibly difficult to bench the England U21 international for their home clash with Stoke on Sunday.
He said: “It is difficult. You are a footballer and you want to play every week and every single game.
“But you have got to be patient and when you get your Europa League or Capital One cup games you have got to make an impression like Harry Kane has done.
“You have got to score goals and make yourself hard to drop and I think Harry Kane has done that.
“Harry has been fantastic all season and every single game he has played in he has scored goals and looked a threat and it was nice to see him come on in the Premier League against Aston Villa and show he can do it at the highest level (by scoring the winner).
“Now, whether he starts the game against Stoke or comes on, I know he is going to make a real impact.”
Last weekend’s win for Spurs was just their second in eight games and with or without Kane, they will be looking to build some momentum and kick start their spluttering campaign.
