Valencia adamant they will sign on-loan striker Alvaro Negredo on a permanent deal in the summer

La Liga side Valencia have played down reports that striker Alvaro Negredo will leave the club at the end of his loan spell in Spain, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The 29-year-old, who signed for Manchester City from Sevilla in July 2013, quickly fell out of favour with the Sky Blues. He scored nine league goals in his first 20 games, but suffered a 12-game goal drought and eventually lost his place in the side.

Valencia took him of City’s hands in the summer, and Negredo previously revealed that his future would depend on if they made the Champions League this season, something the club have refuted. They believe the 29-year-old will sign for around £22M in the summer regardless.
