West Brom vs Arsenal – Premier League preview and team news

Arsenal will be desperate to get the Premier League campaign back on track when they go to West Bromwich Albion for a must-win game on Saturday lunchtime.

The home side could also do with some points after losing their last two matches, struggling to create any meaningful chances in either. The Hawthorns faithful were served up a lifeless display against Newcastle United before the international break, while it all went wrong at Chelsea last time out.

There was debate over the leaders’ opening goal, but the Blues were comfortable throughout and the extent of their cruise control increased when Claudio Yacob was dismissed. Head Coach Alan Irvine will demand more in attack for this one.

Despite dominating the game almost from the first minute to the last and creating numerous opportunities, Arsenal lost their last league game against Manchester United to leave them some 15 points off Chelsea in their worst start to a season under Arsene Wenger.

Indeed, calls for the Frenchman to end his long reign were rife and his future was widely questioned, but his team did at least relieve some of that pressure with a win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. A win here, however, is a must.

Yacob begins a three-match ban for West Brom, who are also without central defender Jonas Olsson due to injury. Left-back Sebastien Pocognoli will be assessed.

The visitors will be without Jack Wilshere for three months, adding to the absences of Mesut Ozil, Mathieu Debuchy and Abou Diaby, with Mikel Arteta also a major doubt.
