West Brom’s Jonas Olsson to have surgery to solve Achilles injury

According to BBC Sport, West Brom will be without defender Jonas Olsson for the next six weeks with the Swedish centre-back undergoing Achilles surgery.

“I have been struggling with this on and off for some time and I’ve come to the point where it feels like surgery would help it. The recovery time is short so I hope to be back 100% some time after the New Year,” he said.

Olsson, 31, has been out of action for Albion since September, with Joleon Lescott and Craig Dawson forming an impressive defensive partnership in his absence. The physical centre-back has played just five games this season for Alan Irvine’s side, but is hoping to play a big part in their survival campaign in the New Year.
