West Ham duo scoop manager and player monthly awards for October

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has been named Barclays Manager of the Month, and striker Diafra Sakho has been named Barclays Player of the Month, reports the Standard.

West Ham have enjoyed an upturn in form this season, winning all three of their Premier League games in October. The Londoners’ summer-signing Diafra Sakho has been to thank for their bright start, with the former Metz striker having scored six goals in seven games.

Supporters were calling for the sacking of Sam Allardyce at the tail-end of last season, but the experienced manager has undergone a completely overhaul of tactics.

It’s led to West Ham picking up 17 points from 10 games, earning impressive victories against Liverpool and Manchester City most notably – who finished runners-up and at the summit of the Premier League respectively last season.
