Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez scored late in the second-half against Southampton as Arsene Wenger’s side ran out winners at the Emirates, reports BBC
Southampton were cute in possession, but created few clear cut opportunities against the Gunners. Arsenal were far from their fluid best, but were the better side over the course of the game. The visitors came the closest in the first-half, however, with Graziano Pelle somehow firing over from inside the area.
In the second-half, Arsenal continued their pursuit for a winning goal, and were given a big boost when defender Toby Alderweireld went off injured with the Saints making all three of their substitutes. The man advantage proved costly as Sanchez scored a close range finish in the last minute of normal time to break Saints hearts.
