Arsenal in bid for Ipswich hot prospect Tyrone Mings

According to the Independent, Arsenal are weighing up the possibility of signing young Ipswich defender Tyrone Mings when the January transfer window opens.

The 21-year-old left-back, who can also play centre-back, has attracted a lot of clubs due to his performances with the Tractor Boys in the Championship this season, and with Mings also being a tall commanding defender with excessive pace, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted he was scouting the coveted full-back.

“We are following a few young players but we are not close to signing anybody. (Mings) is one of the young players we follow,” said the long-serving Gunners boss.

Mings, valued at around £8M, has made 18 appearances for Ipswich Town this season, making four assists. He’s been a regular in the side, and manager Mick McCarthy has previous acknowledge he will go on to bigger and better things in his career.
