Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger defends himself amid fan criticism

With Arsenal supporters called for the manager’s head following their 1-0 win against West Brom, Arsene Wenger has fought back to his critics, reports the Express.

“I’d like you to live with me and see what work we produce, and you will see that it’s total commitment. In the past 15 years we have qualified for the last 16 in the Champions League. We have shown extreme consistency and that’s all we can do. We’ve had ups and downs in the league, but you only come back again when the spirit is strong and healthy and united inside the club,” he said.

Arsenal have endured one of the worst starts to a Premier League campaign in their history, with the Gunners already 13 points adrift of league leaders Chelsea. The Londoners recently ended their run of league defeats with a win against West Brom, but supporters were seen holding a banner that read: “Arsene. Thanks for the memories but it’s time to say goodbye.”
