Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was full of praise for QPR’s in-form striker Charlie Austin ahead of the two side’s meeting on Boxing Day, reports BBC
“It’s good to see that an English striker who had played in lower divisions has managed to come up. That shows mental strength and tenacity – and that is important at the top level,” he said, while adding that Austin’s ‘rag to riches’ story could see clubs take a punt on lower league sides.
Arsenal will have the task to keep Charlie Austin quiet, with the England striker enjoying a great run of form of late – bagging a hat-trick against West Brom on the weekend. The Gunners have been ruing defensive lapses, so Austin could well be a big threat on Boxing Day when the two sides lock horns.
