Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey may have played his last game of 2014 after it was confirmed he suffered a hamstring injury in the Champions League win over Galatasaray, ESPN
Ramsey scored twice in the 4-1 victory – Lukas Podolski getting the other goals – but was withdrawn at half-time, with manager Arsene Wenger since confirming the Wales international will be absent for an unspecified time.
“We have the scan last night and I don’t know enough the extent of [Ramsey’s] injury,” Wenger noted. “It’s a shame because he was getting close to his form.”
Ramsey also scored in the Gunners’ last Premier League game, the 3-2 defeat against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium, netting in the second half to make the score 3-2. Arsenal trailed the Potters 3-0 at half-time before Santi Cazorla pulled a goal back with a penalty and Ramsey added a second consolation.
He is joined on the sidelines by Nacho Monreal and Laurent Koscielny while Calum Chambers will miss Saturday’s game against Newcastle through suspension. The England international was dismissed in the Stoke defeat.
