Arsenal’s Wilshere could now face up to five months out

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is facing more injury headaches after receiving the news Jack wilshere could be out for up to five months, the Daily Star is reporting.

Wilshere sustained the injury to his ankle following a clumsy challenge from Manchester United youngster Paddy McNair during their 2-1 defeat at the hands of their old rivals.

The England international underwent surgery to correct to problem and was initially told it would be only three months on the treatment table.

However it is now thought that the 22-year-old could miss as much as five months’ worth of football as Wenger is dealt a major blow once again this season.

It is also worryingly his eight ankle injury of a plagued career at such a young age.

Arsenal have endured terrible luck with injuries, the majority to their defence, with Wilshere now joining eight other players on their long injury list.

A number of those such as Nacho Monreal and Theo Walcott are expected to return incredibly soon however.

Wenger will be aware that he needs to bolster his squad in January, following this news and an injury to Mikel Arteta, and has reportedly made Newcastle and Paris Saint Germain midfielders Moussa Sissoko and Yohan Cabaye potential targets.
