Aston Villa’s Ashley Westwood to have scan following injury in Leicester victory

According to BBC Sport, Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Westwood is set to undergo a scan on his injury picked up in Villa’s recent 2-1 win against Leicester.

The 24-year-old, signed from Crewe Alexandra back in 2012, assisted Aston Villa’s equalising goal against Leicester City this weekend, but was brought off before the break after picking up what appeared to be a knee injury following a foul by City forward Jamie Vardy.

“He wouldn’t go down unless it was serious. We won’t know more until he has a scan tomorrow. Hopefully it’s not too bad,” said Villa manager Paul Lambert.

Westwood has been a mainstay in the midfield ever since joining the Midlands outfit, but the injury appeared to look serious, and the pain the youngster was in certainly confirmed that. Given the lack of options available to them, Aston Villa will be hoping he’s back as soon as possible.
