Aston Villa’s Gabriel Agbonlahor has red card rescinded following successful appeal

Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor will be available to face Swansea City on Boxing Day, after the FA rescinded his red card against Manchester United, reports BBC Sport.

The England international was given a straight red card for a dangerous tackle on United winger Ashley Young, but replays should that the decision made by the referee was unjust. Aston Villa earned a 1-1 draw at home to the Red Devils, but after the game manager Paul Lambert was critical of the decision.

Villa’s appeal was successful, so Agbonlahor will be available for their Boxing Day fixture, which will be a boost for the Claret and Blues. The Midlands club have, however, been charged for failing to keep their players under control following the afternoon of Agbonlahor’s red card.
