With reports suggesting Manchester United were lining up a €20M bid for Atletico Madrid centre-back Diego Godin in January, manager Diego Simeone was quick to rule out a move, reports ITV
Godin, 28, won the La Liga title with Atletico last season, and has continued to be a mainstay at the heart of the defence this campaign, making 20 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals. He’s played more than 180 games for the Spanish giants, and has shown no real intention of leaving.
But with Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal expected to spend big on a commanding world-class central defender, Godin’s name was linked with the Premier League. Something Simeone has laughed off.
“How much? Twenty? For Godin? It must be a mistake. Let’s talk about something else,” he said.
