Mario Balotelli is expected to return to the Liverpool team for this weekend’s Premier League game against Manchester United, ESPN
Balotelli has been missing with a groin injury, sitting out the last six matches. His last appearance for the Reds came in 2-1 home defeat to Chelsea in early November and he also missed an Italy international against Croatia.
Liverpool go into the game at Old Trafford in ninth place, seven points adrift of the Red Devils but unbeaten in their last three league games. Balotelli has yet to find the net in the league for Liverpool, netting his first goal for the club in the Champions League win over Ludogorets in September. His only other goal thus far came against Swansea City in late October’s Capital One Cup tie.
Balotelli moved to Anfield from Milan in the summer in a £16m tranfer, having scored 28 goals for the Rossoneri in 51 games. He previously represented Manchester City, netting 30 times in 80 appearances, and Inter.
Liverpool were victorious on their last visit to United, winning 3-0 in March thanks to two Steven Gerrard penalties and a late Luis Suarez third.
Balotelli is in line to be joined among the Liverpool squad by Adam Lallana, who is to play through the pain with a couple of broken ribs.
