Tottenham came unstuck in Turkey against Besiktas last night, as the game was twice delayed due to floodlight failures, reports BBC
Just minutes into the game, the floodlights went out for the first time, and saw the players quickly hauled off the park. Shy of 10 minutes later, the teams came back onto the pitch to resume the match, and it was Tottenham who enjoyed the better of the exchanges in the first-half.
Nacer Chadli had a goal ruled out for offside, while Roberto Soldado missed a gilt-edged chance to put the visitors in the lead on the first 45 minutes.
After the break, Besiktas stepped up the pressure in pursuit of a winning goal to finish top of their Europa League group. Cenk Tosun scored from Olcay Sahan’s cross to put the hosts ahead.
The lights went out again at the death, but Tottenham couldn’t find an equaliser when play resumed.
