Cech to stay at Chelsea, says agent

The agent of Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has confirmed that his client will not be leaving the West London club in January despite being second-choice to Thibaut Courtois, the London Evening Standard has reported.

The 32-year-old was the first-choice stopper at Chelsea for 10 years following his arrival from Rennes in 2004, and helped the club to a multitude of trophies, including three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, the Champions League and the Europa League.

However, he lost his place at the beginning of the season after the highly-rated Belgian Courtois returned after spending three years on loan with Atletico Madrid and helping them win the Spanish title in May. Since then, Cech has only featured sporadically, appearing most often in the Capital One Cup.

As a result, there has been plenty of reported interest from across Europe, with Milan, Roma, Paris St. Germain and Real Madrid all rumoured to be looking into making a bid for the Czech international, but his agent insists that any move will not take place in the January transfer window.

“There has been no contact with AS Roma,’ said Viktor Kular. ‘Certainly Petr will not move during the transfer market in January.”
