Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho to rest Gary Cahill ahead of Tuesday Capital One Cup tie

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said he will only rest defender Gary Cahill for their Capital One Cup clash against Derby County, reports Sky Sports.

The Blues are currently still in all four major competitions, top of the Premier League, into the Champions League last-16, FA Cup clash to come in the New Year, and a Capital One Cup quarter-final meeting against Derby County. Chelsea don’t boast a large squad, so their key players have racked up the appearances, meaning Mourinho has had to squad rotate to keep everybody fit and not too overworked.

“We’re going to play against a top team in the Championship. The only (player) who is not going, because he played against Sporting (Lisbon) and I never gave him a break to, is Cahill. Cahill doesn’t play, I play Zouma,” said Mourinho.
