Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke marked his return with a brilliant solo effort, as the Midlands outfit ended their winless run, reports BBC
Crystal Palace were on top throughout the game, and in the first-half came very close to scoring the opener. Yannick Bolasie and Wilfried Zaha were causing problems to the Villa defence, but couldn’t create a clear-cut opportunity for their possession.
The visitors managed to score against the run of play too. Christian Benteke dispossessed a Palace defender near the touchline, and ran nearly half the pitch, before curling an effort past Julian Speroni.
Despite being under intense pressure from the hosts, Villa held on until the break. In the second-half, it started as the first-half ended, with Palace on top, and the away team somehow hanging on. Villa even had a chance to double their lead, but didn’t make the opportunity count. They nevertheless held out for all three points.
