Crystal Palace defender Joel Ward set to sign a new deal with the Eagles

According to the Express, Crystal Palace’s versatile fullback Joel Ward should be signing a new deal with the club before Christmas.

Ward, 25, joined the club from Portsmouth in 2012 for around £500K, and has since been a mainstay when fit for the Eagles, making more than 80 appearances. He’s been linked with a move away from the club in the last 18 months as a result of his fine performances, but the London club are hopeful of tying him down to a new deal.

The Englishman’s contract runs until the summer of 2016, but Palace don’t want to be faced with a decision to make on his future in the summer if they cannot agree a new deal now. Reports are suggesting the new and improved contract should be completed before Christmas.
